I just wanted to point people to the XKCD Rainmeter skin I made a while back as a mod of TTSDA's defunct xkcd skin. it is really cool I love seeing it work so smoothly whenever I boot into Windows.

I'm not on Windows much anymore I am using mostly linux, with conky and mpd, (I wish Rainmeter was on linux).

Hey DS, Could you show me, tell me, or teach me two things... A) How do I make or modify a transparent Icon/Button? ( I created a gif and put it on my Rainmeter desktop but it has a white background, as do all my buttons I try to mod. B) How do I super impose text on top of a button?

If you can't help, do you know whom can help me with these issues? Thanks in advance. :) Andy

Oh yeah, and if you're just using notepad I suggest using a better text editor like Notepad++.

I'm guessing you just need an image editor that supports transparancy. Assuming you don't have photoshop, I suggest the one I use called Paint.NET [link] and save the images as .png files.

I think the best way to put text on button would to use the image editor to edit the button directly. If I understand what you mean, what kind of button and which text ? (rainmeter string or on the image file?)

Also, with the launcher you were asking for before I was thinking a great starting place would be the Simple Launcher [link] by danieliop, it is very basic and you could adjust the background to match my suite, then add as many launchers as you want, even fill the whole side of your screen with it if you want!

I am going nuts over here trying to make my icons with transparent, lol. A.) I am trying to create a Black USMC "Eagle, Globe, and Anchor" about w=35 by h=35. B.) I captured a gif of a moving wind vane that shows wind direction and movement. It too has a white background... Can you help, DS???

I'm not much of a graphic designer, unless the source has a transparent background it would be kinda hard to do nicely in Paint.Net. If its an animated gif I am guessing every frame would have to have the background removed. I am sure it's very possible in photoshop but I dont' have it and wouldn't know where to begin, sorry.
